Wednesday April 1, 2009

Top of the evening to everyone, we greet you in Divine Love, our prayer is that you and your family are walking under an open heaven!!!!
We started this Wednesday night at 6:00pm with New member's class and prayer service!! Before our Spring Revival this year in March, we had two days of prayer and it set the atmosphere for our Spring Revival!!! So we implemented a prayer service on Wednesday nights from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. Our Deacons and Deaconess are in charge of this service!!! I was teaching our new members class in our fellowship hall and was able to hear the saints singing and praying I was so encouraged. Thank you New Beginning for being a church that doesn't mind praying!!!
Well at 7:00pm we started our Bible Class and of course we are still studying, "What we believe as a Baptist!!" We did two more articles. article #12 and #13. They are as follows: XII- The Harmony of the Law and the Gospel- We believe that the law of God is the eternal and unchangeable rule of his moral government; that it is holy, just, and good; and that the inability which the Scriptures ascribe to fallen men to fulfill its precepts arises entirely from their love of sin; to deliver them from which, and to restore them through a Mediator to unfeigned obedience to the holy Law, is one great end of the gospel, and of the means of grace connected with the establishment of the visible church. Article XIII- A Gospel Church- We believe that a visible church of Christ is a congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel; observing the ordinances of Christ; governed by his laws; and exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by his word; that its only Scriptural officers are bishops, or pastors and deacons, whose qualifications, claims, and duties are defined in the epistles to Timothy and Titus.
You can imagine that we had an awesome time and discussion. One of the discussions we had was if we as a Baptist believe in these articles of faith and we say that we are governed by his laws(which is the Bible) why do we as Baptist run to the By-laws like they are the Bible I would love to hear your comments!!! Leave me a post!!!!!

  1. Believe or not in many churches the bylaws get more airplay than the Bible. The bylaws say "I'm in control." The Bible says "God is in control." Great post.

  2. I concur with Pastor McGhee! The business of the church is the BIBLE not the by lawa!

  3. They run to the by-laws as a way of escape. The by-laws are only the churchs’ constitution or the governing structure of a church. They are the laws that states the role of the pastor and other leaders in the church and they also put emphasis on the requirements for membership. The by-laws does not have any power or authority over the BIBLE. The by-laws cannot get you to heaven, but the BIBLE can.
